What evidence does Tony have that any climate change (read” global warming) we may or may not be undergoing is abrupt and dramatic? Is it based on legitimate data collection and recorded observations, or rather on sensational news coverage or parties with an axe to grind?

What evidence is there that any such climate change has to do with anything other than natural solar cycles, cloud cover, changes in geomagnetic patterns, or any other natural long-term cyclic causes? What evidence is there that anthropomorphic global warming (AGW) is real, or that any activities of man have any significant impact on the climate? What evidence is ther that they may not?

What indication is there that anything mankind can do will possibly have any noticeable impact on climate change?

Opinions are like assholes—everybody’s got one, and most of them stink. Only objective data—data that has not been corrupted or otherwise changed to support a specific thesis—properly analyzed statistically can be relied upon.

Lord Monckton and others have:

a) Used such data to refute the AGW proposition

b) Demonstrated that climate change is a natural phenomenon, and

c) Provided credible argument that the global climate “crisis” is the stalking horse for a completely different politico-economic agenda

d) Provided evidence that the so-called “consensus on settled science” is really the fortress mentality of a relatively small group of so-called scientists of one mind, who peer review each other’s work but permit no neutral, outside review. And their position rests on both flawed data and a relatively small number of studies (four, I think) all written and peer reviewd by themselves.

As Lord Monckton says, “Don’t take my word for it. Search out and examine the data for yourself.”

Tony, I have a horrible suspicion that you could be right about the desire for a ‘cataclysm’. I recently heard a British politician say in a TV interview, “Well, we’ve got to get the climate under control.” It should be obvious to anyone that governments have as much chance of controlling the climate as they have of controlling the speed of the earth’s rotation.

People, of course, are much easier to control.

Yes, climactic changes have happened ever since this planet has been here. These changes are measured in geological time, in periods that last thousands if not millions of years. This is the problem. Our climate is beginning to change so abruptly and dramatically. To argue that the behavior of man does not play a significant role in this upheaval and to refuse to evaluate his consumption patterns as a variable in this matrix is absolutely absurd.

That being said, I am just as disgusted as a great many people about the proposed solutions to this problem. It’s all talk and little action.

If I may put on my tinfoil hat, it would appear that the privileged understand that our resources cannot support all our population and they simply want cataclysm to occur so that in the end a select few can enjoy life afterward while the many perish. That’s my conspiracy theory.
