“Job security” never existed. It was a comforting illusion that many of us depended on, but it was only an illusion. Sometimes, you get really lucky and you’re literally propelled from your position on short notice and without your permission. Just think – if they didn’t let you go, you would have continued to throw away your life in a dead-end job.
When you lose your job, you are confronted with the deepest truths and challenges within yourself. Losing your main source of income may mean that you are no longer meant for that line of work. Other times, it signifies your imminent arrival into a period of dynamic transition. And still other times, it heralds an era of greater meaning, fun, and engagement that is better suited for your personality and your gifts.
We are often forced to operate far below capacity just to maintain a job. Perhaps you find yourself wondering when (or if) the full breadth of your talent will ever be welcomed. Truthfully, many of us would quit our jobs today if we felt that we could. We would turn our backs on deadening positions, detach from disconnected bosses and self-centered companies, walk away from organizational politics, and run from environments that are devoid of opportunity.
If we could get over our obsession with having to be “employed” and getting a weekly “paycheck”, our lives would become so much more interesting. We live in a rich universe of endless opportunity. Whereas jobs are finite, and depend on a company’s ability to be your income supplier, opportunity is infinite. It exists beyond the domain of a company, and is formless when it arrives. Opportunities come in when we create space to receive and recognize them.
Many of us tend to wait forever for perfect circumstances or situations. But the greatest opportunities often involve risk, taking a totally new direction, taking a chance that you may have foregone earlier, acting on your intuitions, and taking a leap of faith with no evidence that anything will work out. In other words, sometimes we must trust that we will be where we need to be.
As the economy implodes at the hands of its designers and controllers, cast your worries on your Creator – however you personally interpret and relate to your Creator – and do what you are called and moved to do.
We live in an expansive universe where matter is alive and pulsating all the time. It is a very exciting time to be alive. Thrilling new discoveries are constantly changing our understanding of life. Be conscious to the great transition that is bringing us together and rejuvenating our own inner sense of direction. Cast away false beliefs about how it should look and feel.
As we move into new experiences and try new things, the right people and opportunities will find us. Be open, and keep an eye out for interesting and dynamic assignments with your name on them. Release the burden that comes with employment, income, power, success, and “making it”.
This is a marvelous opportunity for empowerment. Let’s throw off these shackles and break out together!
