<itunes:subtitle>Guest Gary Kinder joins us to discuss Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea and Tommy Thompson's quest to recover the gold that sank with the SS Central America.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Gary Kinder (http://www.kinderlegal.com), the author of Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea (http://www.amazon.com/Ship-Gold-Deep-Blue-Sea/dp/080214425X/ref=sr_1_1/186-9977487-4681802?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272123672&sr=1-1), joins us to discuss one of the most fascinating stories and scientific discoveries of this century. Here's what the book describes as a part of history, discovery, and adventure:

In September 1857, the SS Central America, a side-wheel steamer carrying nearly six hundred passengers returning from the California Gold Rush, was caught in a hurricane two hundred miles off the Carolina coast. Despite the heroic efforts of Captain William Herndon and his crew, the ship and over four hundred lives and twenty-one tons of California gold were lost. It was the worst peacetime disaster at sea in American history.

In a riveting narrative that combines historical adventure and scientific discovery, Gary Kinder re-creates the ill-fated voyage, and then tells the incredible story of a young engineer from Ohio, Tommy Thompson, who in the 1980s set out to find the wreck of the Central America and salvage its treasure almost two miles down on the ocean floor. Kinder chronicles Thompson's epic quest for the lost vessel, an enterprise marked by hair-raising weather, the hostility of the deep ocean at eight thousand feet, highly experimental technology, and unscrupulous rival treasure hunters. The result is an extraordinary tale of the human drama, heroic rescue, scientific ingenuity, and individual courage.

<itunes:subtitle>Author, venture capitalist, and Discovery Institute Senior Fellow George Gilder discusses economics, creativity, and his new book, The Israel Test.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>George Gilder is a man of many skills, gifts and insights. He is the Chairman of George Gilder Fund Management, LLC and host of the Gilder Telecosm Forum (http://www.gildertech.com). He is also a Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute (http://www.discovery.org/gilder/index.html), where he directs Discovery's program on high technology and public policy; the former Editor in Chief of the Gilder Technology Report (published by Forbes Inc., 1996-2007); and a practicing venture capitalist.

Mr. Gilder has authored 15 books including Microcosm, selected by Wired as the second most important technology book of the era, and the international best seller Wealth & Poverty. National Review (http://corner.nationalreview.com) felt that Wealth & Poverty was one of the most important works of the twentieth century.

He's a contributing writer for Forbes and Wired and recently came out with his new book The Israel Test. He's very passionate about everything he talks about and he processes information as fast as the new up-and-coming graphics computer that he and his partners are coming out with in 2011.

Special thanks to The Luxe Hotel (http://www.luxehotelsunsetblvd.com) on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, California, who were kind enough to provide a suite for this interview.

<itunes:subtitle>The founder of the Andy Mackie Foundation has given away over 16,000 harmonicas to spread the joy of music to children. Tune in for his inspiring story!</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Andy Mackie, who teaches children of all ages to build and play instruments, is the founder of the Andy Mackie Foundation (http://andymackiemusic.org/) in Washington state. Andy has a remarkable ability to help children discover their uniqueness. His program improves their sense of self-esteem, lifts their spirits, and encourages them to cooperate with each other. They often become teachers, passing on what they have learned.

Andy has overcome great pain to follow his passion. After being severely injured by a racehorse, surviving several heart attacks, enduring nine major heart surgeries, and suffering through the debilitating side effects of up to 15 simultaneous medications, he decided to try something new.

Instead of medicine, Andy bought harmonicas. He called a school and asked if he could teach kids how to play. So far, he has given away over 16,000 of them.

This humble man is pure magic. Tune in for a heartwarming discussion.
